About Us

MiDEA Lab is an independent arts group for interdisciplinary exploration of new media arts with the focus on interactivity. We research on the experiential interaction and the fusion between visual, sound, body and space. MiDEA Lab offers incubation spaces to engage diverse energies of artists and technologists.

Our vision is to explore the melting points of technologies and arts, create work that defies classification and redefine new boundaries of media arts. We would like to invite any artists and technologists who share the same vision to get in touch with us.

Vira Saksen

Music and Art is a nice platter that has been in the menu for the longest time, but with an up-size order of technology, that combo meal will be a great choice for everyone.

I am a Computer Engineering graduate from the National University of Singapore and also a member of Adage Dance Circle. I have always been interested in music and dance and that’s the reason why I learnt Piano and ballet when I was in primary school. I am a French Horn player too, another instrument that I picked up when I was still in symphonic band. With background in ballet, I then moved on to learn contemporary and Latin dance. Dance to me is another extra room for expressing my mind, feelings and emotion which I couldn’t do as a Computer engineer. However, being a Computer engineer, dancing through technology becomes another possibility. I was previously involved in Moomba-Music 3-in-1™ program that teaches children music fundamentals through movement and interactive technologies. I hope in the near future, technology will bring art to a whole new level. "

Loh Jue Luo

My name is Jue Luo and I am a Year 3 student from Singapore Management University, School of Information Systems. I am an adventurous individual who embraces challenges. Stress and pressure don't daunt me. Instead, they motivate me, thus enabling me to work more efficiently.

In bid to level myself with the IT industry, I took up an internship with UOB Kay Hian this summer as an IT Developer/Audit intern. Thus far, the company has provided me countless learning opportunities by involving me in their tasks. Not only have I been familiarized with more coding languages and conventions, I am also more aware of the security loopholes present in the different operating systems.

Of course my life does not revolve around academia and work. In my free time I would read up on the latest gadgets, attempt to maintain some form of personal fitness and catch up with old friends. There's so much more that I want to do but unfortunately, there are only 24 hours a day.

I can almost imagine the earth shattering effect that this project is going to have on the world. It is an honour for me to be part of this project and I hope I can prove my worth in the next 2 months.
